FOR-A INTRODUCES ADVANCED VERSION OF ALL-IN-ONE SUPER SIGNAL PROCESSOR AT NAB 2007

FOR-A Corporation of America will introduce the FA-9100 HD/SD, its newest FA Series Model of super signal processor, at NAB 2007 in

Las Vegas, from April 14-19, 2007 (Booth #C4234). The FA-9100 is a more advanced version of the FA-9000. Customers can now choose between the FA-9000 and the FA-9100 depending upon the type of processing required.

The FA-9100 represents the culmination of FOR-A s 35 years of signal processing innovations. Like the award-winning FA-9000, the new FA-9100 is an affordable HD-based super signal processor with functionality that goes way beyond a typical frame synchronizer and converter. The FA-9100 offers several options, including HDV/DV stream conversion, Dolby E encoder/decoder, and HD/SD up/down and cross conversion. With the installation of an optional redundant power supply, the FA-9100 s operation is improved due to failsafe redundancy, said Mr. Susumu Hotta, President, FOR-A Corporation of America. With this expanded feature set, the FA-9100 is truly an all-in-one super signal processor suited to the challenges of today s multi-format DTV broadcast environment.

The new FA-9100 has optional cross conversion between 1080i and 720p HD formats as well as HD/SD up and down conversion, The FA-9100 also offers freely adjustable aspect ratio conversion and cross conversion between 1080i and 720p HD formats.

The FA-9100 has an optional Dolby E encoder/decoder. Only the Dolby E decoder option had been available on the model FA-9000. Dolby E, a surround sound distribution system developed by Dolby Laboratories, is becoming increasingly common in the broadcast production pipeline. The FA-9100 can decode Dolby E signals that were input from an external encoder or encode internal audio signals into Dolby E for output. Audio signal processing is based on a high-accuracy sampling rate converter, providing a full range of signal conversion functions, including channel swap, level adjustment, mux/demux, and delay.

Other enhancements to the FA-9100 include a powerful video delay circuit that can delay video by up to four frames. This video delay can be useful in a variety of applications including the signal timing involved in FOR-A s virtual studio systems. This video delay is also useful for applications such as introducing delay to adjust for Dolby E signals.

The FA-9100 also offers an optional color corrector that integrates technology from the FOR-A DCC color corrector series – the broadcast industry standard. This technology enables many different types of color correction, gamma correction, clip functions, and other adjustments.

The FA-9100 offers an optional HDV/DV encoder/decoder for decoding DV or HDV streams from an IEEE1394 terminal and for encoding various baseband signals into HDV/DV formats.

The signal processor supports scramble connections to allow multiple remote control units to communicate with multiple main units. Customers may also choose an optional 3D comb filter for use during analog composite signal conversions.

The FA-9100 will be available for delivery at the end of July 2007.
