OmniBus OPUS 2.0 extends content management at NAB
Story Highlights
OmniBus Systems will unveil OPUS 2.0 at NAB2007. OPUS 2.0 extends OmniBus Systems’ flexible video content management suite with new functionality to assist the migration of content processing operations to standard IT platforms.
OPUS 2.0 delivers unmatched capabilities for end-to-end content processing, including “soft-XML” metadata support for customized logging and annotation, frame-accurate proxy generation and viewing, full-text indexing and searching, seamless integration with production editing systems such as Avid and Final Cut Pro, and standardized Web services data exchange with adjacent systems.
“OPUS 2.0 provides a powerful set of content management tools that complement the revolutionary playout capabilities of OmniBus iTX automation,” said John Wadle, vice president for technology, OmniBus Systems. “For broadcasters moving toward high-quality, crafted playout based on the flexible and cost-effective iTX system, these new OPUS tools provide enhanced content management capabilities operating on the same standard IT platform.”
OmniBus OPUS is a complete product suite for content processing, including content ingest and management, workflow automation and task flow, and multisystem integration, that supports automated broadcast operations. OPUS components are installed and in operation at major broadcast facilities worldwide, supporting both transmission and news operations.
The OPUS suite encompasses several key features:
OPUS Ingest offers a selection of scheduled and on-demand ingest tools, including satellite and live feed recording, batch tape-to-server ingest, ad-hoc tape ingest and clip preparation, and digital file delivery.
OPUS Content Management includes the searching, viewing, logging, and content annotation tools that are central to any content management workflow. With the OmniBus G3 technology, specialized task-oriented desktop layouts can be created for each user or workstation, with the selection and arrangement of controls customized to match the unique requirements of each workflow task.
OPUS Workflow tools design and automate the operation of multistep content processing workflows, including both fully automated tasks and automation-assisted manual tasks. OPUS workflows can include tasks performed by systems from OmniBus or other vendors, with desktop task management and overall task-flow monitoring.
OPUS Interchange provides an XML Web services gateway for the exchange of content metadata, playout schedules, record schedules, and workflow tasks. A companion product, OPUS MediaFlow, provides media management services for all OPUS processes, including content transfer, transcode, and proxy generation. MediaFlow moves content around the facility — or around the world — in both the IT and conventional video storage environments.
