The doctor is in for ESPN digital and cross media measurement

Dr. Thomas Evans has been named vice president, digital and cross media measurement at ESPN. In this newly created position, Evans will build upon ESPN’s existing research assets and supervise research strategy for ESPN digital media, including Internet, mobile, digital audio and video. He will focus on research programs to support digital media growth including ad sales, brand and content development. In addition, Evans will guide ESPN’s efforts to advance cross-media research capabilities including the use of new technologies and innovative research methods. Evans will be based in New York and report to Artie Bulgrin, senior vice president, research and sales development.

“Tom’s breadth of experience perfectly prepares him to guide our digital research strategy and develop cross-media research solutions for ESPN,” said Bulgrin. ”This newly created position is part of a broader initiative to grow our digital media businesses and demonstrate value for our cross-platform audiences.”

Evans joins ESPN after nine years as vice president of research for ABC Radio Networks where he was responsible for all research activities and worked closely with ABC Radio management on research issues for the 70+ ABC owned stations.

Evans previously worked at Nielsen Media Research as vice president, research services and at Arbitron Company as vice president, research communication and marketing development.

Evans was graduated from Austin College with a bachelor of arts degree. He earned a masters of divinity from Harvard University and later a masters of arts degree in history from Syracuse University. He completed post-graduate studies in statistics and research methods from Columbia University and earned a doctorate of philosophy in history from Syracuse.
