Chyron debuts Mobile Suite at NAB

Chyron
Corporation announced its innovative Mobile Suite of products for the Chyron
CAMIO newsroom system, resulting in a major breakthrough for the broadcast
market. The new Mobile Suite, which consists of two products: the award-winning
WAPSTR and MOS2WAP allows anyone with a mobile phone to contribute content to
their local news and become a Citizen Journalist.

The
award-winning WAPSTR is a Multimedia Messaging Gateway and CAMIO plug-in,
interfacing with the public mobile phone network. The WAPSTR technology enables
simple upload of photos and videos from mobile phones, directly into Newsroom
Computer Systems. Journalists have instant access to these materials, which can
quickly and easily be dropped into templates for immediate on-air use.

MOS2WAP is
a WAP Server and CAMIO system plug-in, for simultaneous publication of WAP
pages. MOS2WAP allows story creation directly from within Newsroom Computer
Systems. Changes to the rundown and breaking news stories are instantly posted
to the WAP server, increasing newsroom efficiency and immediately reaching
broadcasters’ new mobile audiences.

WAPSTR
attracted huge interest and won several awards during its first European
showing at IBC, in September 2006. Since then, Chyron has announced its first
European installation at Spanish television network and media company, Antena
3.

The major
Spanish broadcaster is using WAPSTR to display viewers’ questions, comments,
birthday pictures and video via their mobile phones during its new, morning
magazine show, Espejo P blico. These messages are then displayed in the lower
third of the screen throughout the programme, using WAPSTR, in conjunction with
Antena 3’s CAMIO graphic asset management system and Chyron LEX graphics
systems.

Michael
Wellesey-Wesley, Chyron CEO commented, “The role of the Citizen Journalist
has become a huge part of news broadcasting across the world. By launching this
new suite of Mobile products, Chyron has embraced the changing face of news journalism
providing broadcasters with a new platform to reach their viewers, building
relationships and significantly extending news coverage.”
