After much upheaval around horseracing broadcast rights, TVN, the Australian thoroughbred racing channel, and Foxtel have come to a new arrangement that will see TVN made available through the Foxtel platform across Australia.
ThoroughVisioN Pty Ltd (TVN) is 50 percent owned by the Victorian thoroughbred racing industry (MRC, MVRC, VRC and CRV) and 50 percent by the major Sydney metropolitan clubs AJC and STC. TVN recently announced a free to air deal for live television coverage of major racing events from Melbourne and Sydney on the Nine Network.
TVN is available to all Foxtel subscribers who receive the My Sports tier at no additional charge. Existing subscribers who receive the pre-May 2006 Basic package will also receive the channel at no additional charge.
TVN Chairman Harold Mitchell AO said: “Now, with an available audience of hundreds of thousands more home viewers through the Foxtel platform, combined with our distribution through the TAB pubs and clubs network, TVN is poised to play an even more important role in driving interest and betting turnover in thoroughbred racing. On TVN, Foxtel subscribers will enjoy not only the best racing from Australia, but the best racing from Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe and around the world.”
