Online Mixed Martial Arts channel launched by GoFish
Story Highlights
GoFish Corporation, an Internet Video Network showcasing original, Made-for-Internet (‘MFI’) programming, today announced the upcoming launch of MMA Today, an MFI channel featuring a multitude of programs covering the exhilarating sport of mixed martial arts (‘MMA’).
Mixed Martial Arts has rapidly grown into one of the world’s most popular sports, and our fan base is constantly seeking more access to fighters, competitions and the culture. Premiering exclusively on the GoFish Network June 7, MMA Today spotlights the phenomenon of mixed martial arts, providing unparalleled access into what Sports Illustrated refers to as “America’s fastest growing sport.”
A variety of engaging programs about mixed martial arts will be featured as part of MMA Today, including MMA Insider, Fight Night, Training, Fighter Interviews, Disciplines, and Culture, among others. Through the network’s various shows, fans will gain instructive insight into training routines and fighting techniques from some of MMA’s top competitors, as well as fight highlights, news, interviews, fight commentary, fighter lifestyles outside the ring, celebrity sightings, event after-parties and sneak peaks at upcoming events.
Legendary martial arts fighter and television commentator Bas Rutten will play an active role in MMA Today as host, spokesperson, and commentator in different programs. Rutten is one of the most recognizable figures in the sport, and is a three time undefeated ‘King of Pancrase’ and undefeated UFC Heavyweight champion.
“Mixed Martial Arts has rapidly grown into one of the world’s most popular sports, and our fan base is constantly seeking more access to fighters, competitions and the culture,” said Rutten. “MMA Today is the premium video source for all things MMA and will provide unprecedented access to current fans while helping draw new audiences into the sport.”
MMA Today will be executive produced by award-winning television producers Ann Marie Lynch and John Corry.
“The popularity of mixed martial arts is on the cusp of a worldwide explosion and no television network, Website, publication, or other media outlet provides the coverage deserving of this wildly popular sport. MMA Today not only captures the essence of the culture, but it is the ideal vehicle for advertisers to reach the sport’s core followers who fall into the highly coveted 18-24 year old male demographic,” said Lynch.
MMA Today also will feature unique interactive programming that encourages fans to upload their own videos for contest submissions, questions, commentary, disciplinary studies, and skill demonstrations, among others.
“Few websites offer the opportunity for fans to interact with athletes and integrate into the culture of the sport and its community in the unique way that MMA Today will,” said C.J. Bowden, vice president of GoFish’s MFI division. “MMA Today will become the hub of an engaging and ever-growing social network comprised entirely of fans and followers of martial arts.”
