NEP Supershooters to Provide Broadcast Technology Support for Networks During 2007 U.S. Open

NEP Broadcasting, the leading international provider of outsourced teleproduction services critical to the delivery of live sports and entertainment events, will be the primary supplier of television production technology to broadcasters providing global coverage of the 107th U.S. Open. This year’s Open will be held at Oakmont Country Club,

Pittsburgh, June 14-17.

As 156 of the world’s top golfers compete in professional golf’s second major championship of the year, NBC and ESPN’s coverage of the event will be captured by NEP Supershooters’ newest high-definition truck, ND4. Designed, built and housed in NEP’s

Pittsburgh systems integration facility, ND4’s “maiden voyage” will be a two-mile drive to storied Oakmont.

Outfitted with a virtual monitor wall within a spacious control room and furnishing a GVG Kalypso switcher, Calrec Alpha audio console, Sony HDC1500 cameras and several EVS LSMs, the new ND4 will join NEP Supershooters’ fleet of mobile trucks at the U.S. Open to form a massive broadcast compound. For this year’s Open Championship, NEP is supplying more than $50 million worth of equipment and hardware to leading television networks from around the globe, which, in addition to NBC and ESPN, includes The Golf Channel, Sky Sports, TV Asahi and the USGA world feed.

According to NEP Broadcasting Vice President of Engineering George Hoover, this year’s U.S. Open presents a rare and special opportunity for

NEP.

“While the majority of our efforts take place throughout the country and around the globe, we’re happy to launch ND4 at this year’s U.S. Open, which is happening right here in our own backyard,” Hoover states. “The introduction of ND4 further strengthens our position as the leader in TV production facilities. The world’s leading broadcasting organizations and networks, such as NBC, ESPN, The Golf Channel and Sky Sports, continually depend on NEP for its state-of-the-art mobile broadcast facilities, highest level of technical expertise and unmatched production services. The U.S. Open is the jewel of professional golf’s major championships, and we are proud to ensure that continuous coverage of the action is delivered to millions of fans around the world.”

Hosted each year by the United States Golf Association, the Open will enjoy at least 27 hours of live network coverage from its broadcast partners. NEP will support these efforts with over a dozen mobile production facilities housed on the grounds at Oakmont Country Club.
