Golfers to wear wireless mics during Tournament

Canadian
golf fans will get an up close and personal look at some of the world’s best
golfers, as TSN presents coverage of the 2007 TELUS Skins Game featuring John
Daly, Geoff Ogilvy, Retief Goosen, Colin Montgomerie and Canadian Stephen

Ames.

The
made-for-TV event will air in two 2 -hour episodes, with the Front 9 airing Monday,
June 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET (encores June 21 at 3 p.m. ET and June 24 at 11:30 p.m.
ET) and the Back 9 on Wednesday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m. ET (encores June 22 at 3
p.m. ET and June 25 at 12 midnight ET).

The 15th annual two-day event takes place at the scenic Raven Golf Club at Lora
Bay, in Thornbury, ON, as the golfers battle it out for cash prizes worth a
total of $360,000* (Cdn). The first 6 holes are worth $15,000 each, the
following 6 at $20,000 each, and holes 13 through 18 are worth $25,000
each. Should there be a tie on any hole, the prize money will be carried
over and added to the next hole’s prize value. The Skins event will also
raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

TSN’s Rod
Black will once again host the TELUS Skins Game alongside analyst Jim Nelford,
while TSN Golf Insider Bob Weeks and former Canadian LPGA TOUR player Sandra
Post report from the course.

All 5
golfers will hit the links wearing wireless microphones, providing viewers with
a rare opportunity to experience the banter between players on the course.

The
talented field taking part in this year’s TELUS Skins Game is made up of
players from 5 different countries, as the event pays tribute to the global
game of golf:

Stephen

Ames (

Canada)
– Canadian Stephen Ames returns to the TELUS Skins Game for a third straight
year.

Ames
won the event in 2005, taking 7 skins and $150,000. Currently ranked 36th
in the Official World Golf Ranking,

Ames’
biggest victory came at THE PLAYERS Championship in 2006. Since turning
pro in 1987,

Ames has earned more than $12
million (

U.S.)
in winnings.

John Daly
(

United States)
– John Daly brings his signature ‘Grip it & Rip it’ style back to the TELUS
Skins Game for a sixth consecutive year. Daly is the defending champion,
having finished with 9 skins and $210,000 in total prize money last year.
The 41-year-old has won two majors, including the PGA Championship in 1991 and
the British Open in 1995.

Geoff
Ogilvy (Australia) – Currently ranked 8th in the Official World Golf Ranking,
Geoff Ogilvy makes his first appearance at the TELUS Skins Game, representing
his native Australia. Ogilvy’s biggest victory to date came at the 2006
U.S. Open, when he overcame a 2-stroke deficit with only 3 holes remaining to
defeat Phil Mickelson.

Retief
Goosen (

South Africa) –
Ranked 10th in the Official World Golf Ranking, Retief Goosen has 6 career PGA
TOUR victories, including 2

U.S.
Open championships (2001, 2004). This past April, Goosen finished second
at The Masters, 2 strokes back of Zach Johnson. The South African is
considered one of the most consistent golfers in the world, having won a PGA
TOUR event every year from 2001 to 2005. This marks Goosen’s first
appearance at the TELUS Skins Game.

Colin
Montgomerie (

Scotland) –
Often referred to by his nickname ‘Monty’, Colin Montgomerie is not only making
his first appearance at the TELUS Skins Game, but also his first appearance at
a golf event in

Canada.
While he’s widely considered the best golfer to have never won a major,

Montgomery has been the
runner-up on 5 occasions. The

Scotland native finished first on
the European Tour of Merit a record 7 consecutive years (1993-1999) and has
played in 8 Ryder Cups, where he has never been defeated in a singles match.
