RSTN to televise two Omaha games
Story Highlights
The Royals
Sports Television Network announced that it will televise a pair of Omaha
Royals games from Rosenblatt Stadium on July 12 and Aug. 2. The Triple-A
affiliate of the Kansas City Royals will take on the Iowa Cubs on July 12 at 7
p.m. The game will feature the two PCL franchises with the longest affiliation
to their parent club.
Omaha and
Kansas City have been affiliated since 1969 while
the Iowa Cubs (formerly Iowa Oaks) have been the Chicago Cubs affiliate since
1981.
Omaha will host the
Las Vegas 51s on Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. The 51s are
the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The games
will be carried on all participating cable and satellite partners throughout
the Royals television territory. Dave Armstrong, who broadcast Royals games
from 1993-95, will be handling play- by-play duties. Royals Hall of Famer and
eight-time Gold Glove winner Frank White will serve as the analyst. “We
received a great response from Royals fans across the region after our
telecasts in
Wichita
last year,” RSTN Vice President and General Manager Neil Harwell said.
“This year we want to try the same thing in
Omaha. The addition of Frank White to the
broadcast booth should give fans a unique perspective.”
The
Omaha roster currently
consists of former Royals first-round draft pick Mitch Maier, current minor
league home run leader Craig Brazell, right-handed pitcher Billy Buckner, infielder
Justin Huber, and left-handed pitcher Tyler Lumsden.
