CSTV Adds ‘Military Classic Of The South’ To Fall Football Line-Up
Story Highlights
CSTV
announced that it will broadcast one of the nation’s oldest and most
prestigious football rivalries this fall, as Virginia Military Institute (VMI)
hosts The Citadel. The Keydets and Bulldogs battle in the 66th edition of
the “Military Classic of the South” on Saturday, November 17 at Noon
ET. The rivalry began in 1920 and Citadel leads the series 33-30-2, and
has won the last three match-ups.
“We
are thrilled to provide this long standing rivalry game with the national
exposure it deserves on CSTV,” said Tim Pernetti, Executive Vice
President, Content. “The game is a perfect fit for CSTV, where we
super-serve every college sport at every level. It will feature some of
the future leaders of our country and is complete with all the pageantry and
partisanship that makes college sports so special.”
“The VMI-Citadel football series is one of our most storied athletic
rivalries,” said VMI Director of Athletics, Donny White. “It
embodies all the qualities of what college football should be tradition,
pageantry, and intense competition between two peer institutions that respect
each other greatly. We are delighted that CSTV will be bringing the quest
for the Silver Shako into millions of homes this November.”
“This
is a great opportunity to give additional exposure to the Military Classic of
the South,” said Les Robinson, Director of Athletics at The Citadel.
“As Donny alluded to, this is a great rivalry and one that we want to
afford as many people as possible the opportunity to view. This exposure will
allow us to do that.”
