TVG covers Breeders Cup
Story Highlights
TVG,
America’s
Horseracing Network announced that it will air live racing and on-site
programming during opening week of the 2007 Saratoga Meet beginning Wednesday,
July 25. Opening week coverage will be highlighted by the debut of the new
Breeders’ Cup Challenge series on Saturday, July 28, and the scheduled running
of Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense in the Jim Dandy Stakes on Sunday, July
29.
TVG will air daily coverage of all races through the duration of the 2007
Saratoga Meet, concluding Monday, Sept. 3, including the Alabama Stakes with
the anticipated return of Rags to Riches, the history-making winner of the
Belmont Stakes, and the second potential running of Street Sense at
Saratoga in the $1
million Travers Stakes.
TVG’s daily start-to-finish race coverage of opening week at
Saratoga, continuing through Sunday, July 29,
will include special live editions of two of the network’s most popular shows,
plus expert on-site commentary from TVG analysts Todd Schrupp, Gary Stevens, Simon
Bray and Jill Byrne.
Starting Gate will air live from historic Saratoga Race Course at 1 p.m. ET
Thursday through Sunday. The show brings viewers live racing from TVG’s East
Coast tracks with up-to-the-minute analysis and handicapping angles.
Racing
Coast
to Coast, airing at 3 p.m. ET Wednesday and Thursday and 4 p.m. ET Friday,
Saturday and Sunday, will also originate live from
Saratoga. Hosts Gary Seibel, Bob Baedeker,
Chris Kotulak, and Matt Carothers take TVG’s worldwide audience across the
U.S. with coverage of the opening races on the
West Coast along with the late races of the East Coast and
Midwest,
including the major stakes races of the day.
The new Breeders’ Cup Challenge series will debut from Saratoga on Saturday,
July 28, highlighted by the $750,000 Whitney Handicap (GI), a 1-1/8 mile race
for three-year-olds and up (Breeders’ Cup Classic qualifier) and the $500,000
Diana Handicap (GI), a 1-1/8 mile turf race for fillies and mares,
three-year-olds and up (Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf qualifier). The
Breeders’ Cup Challenge series continues through early October with similar
formats at Del Mar, Belmont Park, Keeneland and Oak Tree at Santa Anita. Each
winner earns a spot in the two-day, $23 million Breeders’ Cup World
Championships at
Monmouth
Park, October 26-27.
