ESPN2 to Air Tuesday Chicago Sky Game
Story Highlights
ESPN2 has
announced it will broadcast the Tuesday, August 7 Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever WNBA
game at 7 p.m. CDT live from the UIC Pavilion. ESPN2 was scheduled to air the
Phoenix vs.
Los
Angeles game, but switched to the Eastern Conference
match up, because of the tight race for the last playoff spot.
The
Indiana Fever has clinched an Eastern Conference playoff berth, and is playing
for home court advantage, trying to hold off a surging
Connecticut, which is only 1 1/2 games back.
The Sky trails the Washington Mystics by one game for the fourth and final
playoff spot, with five games to play in the regular season. The Mystics have a
tough west coast road trip this week, with games against Western
Conference-leading
San Antonio,
Los
Angeles,
Seattle and
Sacramento, two games against Eastern Conference rival
Connecticut and one game against
New York. The Sky has games against Indiana,
Connecticut, struggling
Houston
and two big games against
New York,
which is also contending for the last Eastern Conference playoff spot.
Should the
Sky make the playoffs, the first game will be August 23 or 24 at UIC Pavilion.
Playoff tickets will go on sale on August 13.
For ESPN2,
Pam Ward will call the game. Carolyn Peck will be the color analyst and Heather
Cox will do sideline reporting.
The Sky
vs. Fever game will not be broadcast on WTTW as originally scheduled.
The
Chicago Sky is the newest of 13 teams in the WNBA, the longest-running women’s
professional sports league in the world. The Sky celebrated it inaugural season
in 2006. For more information, visit www.chicagosky.net.
