Glowpoint Sees Rapid Growth in Video-Call Volume; Revenue On The Rise

Glowpoint, a provider of advanced video communications solutions, more than doubled its video-call volumes during November-December 2008 compared with the same period in 2007. This rapid growth in call volume was driven by a combination of both increased usage by existing customers and the addition of new customers during the fourth quarter. In addition, activated incremental monthly recurring revenue increased approximately 70% over the same period in 2007, mostly driven by the growth of the company’s Telepresence VNOC and managed-network service offerings.

“Glowpoint’s services provide customers with an easy-to-use and robust experience, which is driving both the increased usage and adoption of video-communications solutions,” says Glowpoint CEO Michael Brandofino. “Despite the fact that the U.S. and world economies are experiencing their most pronounced slowdowns in decades, Glowpoint is achieving record video-call volumes and continued expansion in our recurring revenue base. Our services enable customers to maintain high-quality, face-to-face relationships with clients, while simultaneously dramatically reducing travel-related costs.”

Glowpoint management notes further that the company’s strong video-call performance in November and December was particularly encouraging given that the winter holiday period is typically a seasonally slow period for video usage activity. Management expects to build on this increased demand for its video services throughout this year.
