Sports Video Group Launches College Sports Video Summit, June 9-10, Atlanta

NEW
YORK — The Sports Video Group (staging.sportsvideo.org)
is pleased to announce the inaugural College Sports Video Summit (CSVS), to be
held in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 9-10, 2009.

Developed
in cooperation with leading conferences, universities, and collegiate
sports-broadcasting organizations, the event will help college sports
professionals understand the technology requirements and business models
associated with building a sports-video-production infrastructure for
broadcast, Internet, and mobile distribution.

“College
sports is a multibillion-dollar industry, involving more than 100,000
productions each and every year,” says Tom Buffolano, CSVS Conference Chairman
and former VP and GM of Digital Programming and Production at CSTV/CBS College
Sports. “This summit will pull all the diverse pieces together as the experts
examine how to budget, monetize, and support your university’s sports-video
initiative. University athletic departments from Divisions I, II, and III, as
well as conference and league offices and their media partners, should be
represented at this event.”

Chris
Bevilacqua, Chairman/CEO of CAA Sports Media Ventures, will deliver the
opening-day keynote address for the event. Bevilacqua was the co-founder and
President of CSTV, as well as Director of Global Negotiations and League
Affairs at Nike, Inc. He explains, “What started for
me as an idea for a network to cover more college sports on multiple platforms
than had ever been done previously, in 10 years, has grown to the point where
every school’s athletic and academic programs have the opportunity to showcase
themselves as never before. We are all at a critical stage in the
financial welfare of college athletics, and I believe that video production can
be one of the core businesses that can positively impact revenue at these
institutions.”

An
advisory committee of experts will develop the program, identify key industry
insiders as keynoters and presenters, and build widespread community support among
college video specialists, marketing and business-development executives,
sports information directors, athletic directors, coaches, and broadcast
educators.
