SportsTime Ohio Delivers for Tribe Fans

By Ken Kerschbaumer

SportsTime Ohio, the cable network home of the Cleveland Indians, will give fans across the state even more Indians coverage thanks to the carriage of the team’s AAA minor league affiliate, the Columbus Clippers. “The Clippers produce the games but we’ll be carrying a handful of them,” says Pat Killkenny. He also says Indians AA and A minor league ball clubs could see some coverage.

Cleveland Indians fans in Ohio catch their favorite team on both SportsTime Ohio and WKYC Cleveland with the latter broadcasting 20 games. This year, however, Indians fans who live outside the DMA of WKYC or one of the NBC affiliates in the state will finally be able to catch the action. “We listened to the complaints and this year we’re simulcasting the WKYC broadcasts to guarantee that fans can see every game,” adds Killkenny. “We have a great working relationship with WKYC and this year the NBC stations will also carry the pre- and post-game shows.”

Lyon Video, of Columbus, OH, will be behind the scenes for the majority of the network’s 155 HD broadcasts as the network’s production unit provider for the majority of its 155 HD broadcasts. “Going all HD legitimizes us as a serious, state-of-the-art network and now we even do our studio programming and even high-school, state championships in HD,” says Killkenny. “Viewers love it.”
