Nuggets-Lakers Series Stays on Ratings Roll

Game three of the NBA Western Conference Finals between the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers performed well for ABC Saturday, and ESPN reaped the benefits of game four Monday.

The third game of the series, currently tied 2-2, earned a 5.4 household rating and drew an average of 6.159 million households, making it ABC’s most-viewed NBA Conference Finals telecast ever. The numbers topped the 2006 Eastern Conference Finals clash between the Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat, which tallied 8.19 million viewers, 6.074 million households and a 5.5 rating.

And game four scored a 7.1 overnight household rating for ESPN, up 42% from its coverage of game four of the 2008 Eastern Conference Final between the Boston Celtics and Detroit.

ESPN will air game five Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET.
