CES 2010: Panasonic to Release 3D HDTVs This Spring

In addition to the big announcement that Panasonic will be exclusively presenting DirecTV’s 3D channels, the company rolled out a plethora of new products and plans at its Consumer Electronics Show press conference Wednesday in Las Vegas.

Panasonic announced plans to roll out a full line of HD 3D TVs this spring with 3D shutter glasses included (most other announced lines do not have accompanying glasses). The Viera TC-P65VT25 series will be the first 3D-capable flat-panel HDTVs available in the U.S. and comes in 65, 58, 55, and 50-inch models.

Boosted by the immense success of its work on Avatar, Panasonic plans to work with DirecTV, CBS, Fox Sports, HDNet, MTV, NBC Universal, and Turner Broadcasting System on 3D programming development throughout 2010. The MLB All-Star Game will also be broadcast in 3D this year with the help of Panasonic.

Also previewed was an integrated full HD 3D camcorder that incorporates two cameras into a single rig for a true 3D image. The first of its kind, Panasonic’s HD 3D camcorder will be available this fall.
