Game Creek Utilizes Grass Valley Switchers for ABC’s BCS Telecasts

Game Creek Video utilized the new Grass Valley Kayenne Video Production center in its Liberty HD truck to telecast the 96th Rose Bowl Game on ABC live from Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, CA on New Years Day.

The Liberty (along with a B unit) features a newly installed Grass Valley Kayenne switcher for ESPN/ABC’s HD production of the Rose Bowl. Game Creek also rolled the Intrepid A truck (also with a B unit) for prodution on ESPN’s College GameDay show.  The Intrepid A features a Grass Valley Kalypso switcher.

A week later on Jan. 7, both trucks were also used for ABC’s telecast of the University of Alabama’s 37-21 victory over the University of Texas in the BCS National Championship Game, which was also played at Rose Bowl Stadium.

The Grass Valley Kayenne Video Production Center is a family of production switchers with 1.5 M/Es to 4.5 M/Es. Grass Valley DoubleTake split M/E technology, effectively increasing the available M/Es to 10. The modular control panel is designed for flexible installation and easy service. Each source select and aux bus module has two rows of OLED Source Name Displays that provide clear text with wide viewing angles. Kayenne provides extensive video processing power with up to 30 keyers and 20 DPM effects channels in a 4.5 M/E system.
