Trendy UK Post-Production Studio Upgrades Quantel Suite

The Look, a high-end post-production studio in the heart of Soho in London, has upgraded its Quantel suite to full Pablo specification complete with the Neo grading panel. The Look also added a second grading suite, comprising a Quantel eQ finishing system with the QColor grading option.

The Look specializes in high quality long-form and commercials work. Recent projects include two of 2009’s most acclaimed UK BBC drama series – Desperate Romantics and Criminal Justice 2, as well as commercials for Gordon’s Gin and Unilever’s Impulse product featuring girl-band ‘The Saturdays’ (shot on the Canon 5D digital SLR).

The Look has received loads of attention as of late with managing director and colorist, Thomas Urbye, being named one of the UK’s top ten ‘most influential behind the scenes talent’ by Broadcast magazine this week.

“The addition of a second suite will give me the freedom to continue color correction work on the Pablo while the team does the rest of the work on the eQ,” he says. “We’re not trying to build a super-facility; our intention is to stay small enough to give our clients the really personal, bespoke service they’re used to, but adding the flexibility to be able to respond to short notice projects and changes.

“At the same time, it is important we offer the most creative and productive technology that the market has to offer, and the Pablo Neo working alongside the eQ with Genetic Engineering allows projects to be shared easily,” Urbye adds. “The Neo panel gives me new tools and makes grading faster, more intuitive and more comfortable too – which will make a big difference in long-form work in particular. It’s a serious grading panel for serious grading work.”
