Quantel Names Factor as VP of Sales

Quantel has appointed Cory Factor as VP of sales for Quantel Inc., its North American subsidiary.

As the co-founder of DayPort, Factor is well versed in the merging of new media solutions with traditional broadcast infrastructure . Factor launched DayPort in 1999 and guided its pioneering development of online applications in broadcasting, with a particular emphasis on merging the internet and broadcasting to deliver VOD applications.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Quantel at such an exciting time in our industry,” Factor said. “Quantel has highly innovative technology in both the post and broadcast arenas with more on the way. Its file-based workflows and open platforms can bring tremendous benefits to broadcasters, and Quantel’s leadership in Stereo3D is helping to forge a whole new business opportunity around the world. We have a fantastic opportunity to expand our base in North America, and I’m looking forward to leading our excellent team there in achieving that goal.”

Factor’s relationship with Quantel dates back to 2004, when Quantel and DayPort worked closely together at BSkyB in the UK to implement a publishing toolset for IPTV, VOD, internet and mobile output from Sky’s Quantel-based production system. Following DayPort’s acquisition by Entric (which subsequently merged with Irdeto) in 2008, Factor served as CTO of the Irdeto Solutions Group.
