Oklahoma’s BTC Broadband Taps EchoStar’s ViP-TV
Story Highlights
EchoStar Satellite Services has entered into an agreement to deliver its ViP-TV video transport service to BTC Broadband, a major provider of telecommunications services in Oklahoma. BTC will receive transport of up to 49 HDTV channels to its IPTV headend.
BTC Broadband provides several services to its residential and business customers in Oklahoma, including local and long distance telephone, high speed Internet, enhanced calling features, digital television, and wireless service as well as fiber-to-the-home delivery of high speed two-way video, voice, and data services.
EchoStar’s ViP-TV transport service offers a suite of IPTV services that includes approximately 300 popular, broadcast-quality TV and music channels in IP H.264 format. ViP-TV can also provide satellite-delivered local TV channel aggregation in designated market areas in both HD and SD.
“The new HDTV channels our customers will have access to as a result of this new relationship is key for our strategy of delivering the highest quality services and content to our customers using the most current technology,” says Bob Rozell, CFO and COO of BTC Broadband.
BTC Broadband’s IPTV solution also integrates ViP-TV streams into the fs|cdn IPTV middleware solution from Conklin-Intracom.
“By selecting the fs|cdn fully integrated IPTV solution along with ViP-TV’s video delivery, providers like BTC Broadband can eliminate interoperability testing costs while deploying feature-rich content including a multi-tiered channel lineup with HD and local channels, EAS, VOD, and DVR services,” says Ian Meletios, CEO of Conklin-Intracom. “The fs|cdn ecosystem continues to evolve, making our IPTV business model appealing for a growing audience of service providers.”
