Vancouver 2010: Olympics Venues Struggle to Find Snow

Due to a severe lack of snowfall and the probability that no major storm will hit before the 2010 Winter Games begin next month, the Vancouver Organizing Committee is going to Plan B – transporting snow in.

Snow-moving equipment, dump trucks, and helicopters are already bringing in snow from higher elevations at Cypress Mountain, where six skiing and snowboarding events are scheduled.  The New York Times reports that while there is plenty of snow at Whistler, which is about 90 minutes north, the Vancouver snowfall has been slim-to-none thus far.
