ESPN America Sees Huge Gains in Europe, Middle East

ESPN America has seen a 167% increase in households reached in Europe and the Middle East, according to Paul Melvin the incoming director of communications for ESPN International.  The London-based network, formerly known as the North American Sports Network, is now available in 40 countries, primarily in the European Union.

The New York Times reports that while the network airs nearly every major North American professional and college sport, the ads that accompany this programming rarely make is overseas.  The questions is – how can ESPN America utilize all that dead air?
