SDTV Powers Up for McGwire MLB Network Interview

SDTV’s mobile unit HDLA (an HD expandolink) was recently at the center of one of the biggest stories in baseball when MLB Network used it to produce and provide satellite transport of Bob Costas’ interview with St. Louis Cardinals hitting coach, and former MLB great (with an asterisk) Mark McGwire where he fessed up to using steroids.

The interview took place in Newport Beach, CA, and HDLA’s configuration included three cameras. The unit typically includes eight Sony HDC-1550 cameras and can support four networked EVS servers and eight videotape devices. All monitoring is HD/SD compatible with audio handled by a Calrec Zeta console and video switched courtesy of a Sony MVS 8000 production switcher with 80 inputs and four mix effects.

“This exclusive three camera one-on-one interview was a great opportunity to further showcase our combination HD production and satellite uplink vehicle for the MLB Network,” says Mark Yancey, SDTV president. “The client couldn’t have been happier with our all in one rapid ‘Expandolink’ performance, with this late breaking sports news story.”
