NewTek Tricaster To Stream Live Video from NBA All-Star Weekend

The NBA will use NewTek’s TriCaster HD/SD portable live production system to live stream the 2010 NBA All-Star Jam Session, Slam Dunk Showdown, and NBA D-Leauge Dream Factory this weekend in Dallas. The Tricaster will also be used throughout the weekend to drive live venue video of all the action on the court to courtside video boards and on-site plasma screens.

“The NBA is one of the first sports organizations to capitalize on portable live production and streaming using NewTek TriCaster,” said Philip Nelson, SVP, strategic development at NewTek. “This aggressive strategy has placed them at the forefront of the new media revolution.”

The TriCaster allows a single operator or a small team to produce, live stream, broadcast, and project HD and SD productions. The user can create network-style productions while switching between multiple cameras, virtual inputs, and live virtual sets, as well as automatically inserting clips, titles, and motion graphics with multi-channel effects.

The TriCaster family of products in NTSC is available in North America starting at US$3,995.
