DTS Delivers Surround Sound for Super Bowl XLIV International Broadcast

TV viewers from around the world were able to experience Super Bowl XLIV in full 5.1 surround sound courtesy of DTS Neural Surround, which was integrated into the NFL’s international HD broadcast of the game. Over 60 international broadcasters televised the game from Miami in more than 30 languages throughout 180 countries and territories.

“The Super Bowl is one of the most popular and exciting sporting events on television,” said Jon Kirchner, President and CEO, DTS, Inc. “We are thrilled to be partnering with the NFL to deliver top-notch surround sound to a growing global audience and make their Super Bowl experience even more immersive and thrilling.”

DTS Neural Surround provides a new approach to surround sound productions that enables networks to distribute 5.1 surround sound over a stereo transmission path. For Super Bowl XLIV, this DTS Neural Surround technology (incorporated in hardware by DaySequerra) allowed the NFL’s on-site broadcast crews to produce the game in 5.1 surround sound and preserve the integrity of the surround mix while distributing the game live in a stereo format to a global audience.
