Vancouver 2010: NEP Relies Exclusively on Vinten Heads at Olympics
Story Highlights
NEP Supershooters will provide eight mobile production trailers for coverage of the Vancouver Winter Games and will mount its OB and portable cameras exclusively on Vinten pan and tilt heads.
“All outdoor Winter Games sites are pretty extreme, where we’re outside for days on end in freezing temperatures,” says George Hoover, CTO at NEP Broadcasting. “We have Vinten heads out there for weeks on the side of mountains for the Alpine events, and in stadiums for figure skating and speed skating. They just work smoothly and reliably wherever we put them.”
NEP relies exclusively on Vinten (a Vitec brand) for all its trucks, currently employing 400 Vinten heads to equip its 60-plus mobile units worldwide. Hoover adds this “because the cameraman simply won’t work with anything else.”
In Vancouver, NEP is providing Vinten Vector heads and heavy-duty tripods to support full-sized video production cameras with hefty long lenses. For smaller cameras used for quick deployment assignments like post competition interviews, NEP is providing Vinten Vision heads across the range.
