Mobile TV Group Orders 20 Grass Valley LDK 8000 Elite Cameras

The Mobile Television Group has ordered 20 new LDK 8000 Elite cameras from Grass Valley for its fleet of HD mobile production trucks.

The Mobile Television Group (MTVG) selected the new LDK 8000 Elite cameras based on their experience with the LDK 6000 cameras. The LDK 8000 cameras, which are slated for MTVG’s newest truck — 26HDX and for upgrades on 7HDX and PUMA-1 — can utilize the same base station and OCP (operational control panel) units as the LDK 6000 cameras they will be replacing.

“We have had great success with the LDK Series cameras and our customers love the images they produce,” says Philip Garvin, President of Colorado Studio and owner/manager of Mobile Television Group. “For our newest truck, it just made sense to purchase the latest technology Grass Valley has to offer and the company’s cameras offer value, performance, and reliability.”

The new 26HDX truck will also include a 256X512 Trinix NXT HD routing switcher populated with 160 HD-SDI inputs by 320 HD-SDI outputs.

“The Mobile Television Group has been a pioneer in HD production in North America and has a keen sense of what works and what doesn’t, and we are pleased to be a continued supplier for many of the technologies it uses across its fleet,” said Jeff Rosica, SVP of Grass Valley. “As a long time customer, MTVG has been a great partner and helped field test many of our cameras, production switchers, and other technologies. This latest purchase of LDK 8000 cameras further strengthens our relationship.”

In addition to Grass Valley cameras, MTVG installed the first Kayenne Video Production Center in July 2009, and was the first in North America to use the Kayenne live on-air on board its 25HDX truck, which also carries eight LDK 8000 HD cameras with triax adapters. The company has since bought a third Kayenne switcher for 26HDX.
