TNT Sees Decline in NBA All-Star Game, All-Star Saturday Night Ratings

Largely due to stiff competition from NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage, TNT’s audience for the 2010 NBA All-Star Game Sunday night saw a 9.2% decline compared to the 2009 game.

TNT posted a 3.8 household rating and a 4.4 on the cable side, translating into 4.4 million households and some 6.9 million viewers.  Last year’s All-Star Game drew 7.6 million viewers, which was a 20% boost from the 2008 event.

TNT’s ratings for NBA All-Star Saturday were also down after a record showing in 2009. The Saturday night festivities averaged a 3.1 national household rating and almost 5.5 million viewers; second best in the event’s 25-year history behind last year’s 3.9 rating and 6.55 million-viewer audience.
