AT&T U-verse TV Adds CBS College Sports Network to Its Lineup

Beginning this week, AT&T U-verse TV customers have access to CBS College Sports Network with the addition of the network to the provider’s Sports Package in standard and high definition.

“Gaining network carriage on AT&T U-verse TV is another big step for CBS College Sports Network,” says Bob Rose, EVP of distribution for CBS College Sports. The added carriage brings CBS College Sports viewership to approximately 38 million subscribers, according to Rose.

This announcement comes as CBS College Sports gears up for March Madness. “We think it’s great for everybody,” says Rose. “Again this year, we’ve got comprehensive programming dedicated to March Madness. We are the tournament’s official cable network, the ‘Official Cable Home of the Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.’”

The addition of AT&T U-verse is important in that it brings the CBS network into major markets, including Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Detroit. He also points to “three markets that are very relevant given the conference programs that we air: Dallas, Houston, and San Diego. We have five teams [in those markets] that are regularly seen on our network. We have a lot of happy customers.”

The AT&T addition is the latest move in increasing CBS College Sports growth. Added carriage and changes in availability on DirecTV, Time Warner, Cox Cable, and Comcast have helped the CBS network dramatically increase viewership. “All of the top 10 distribution companies carry us,” Rose reports. “And 22 of the top 25 carry our network now.

“We’ve easily added 10 million subscribers in the last 12 months, which is a terrific number,” he continues. “We are definitely a network that everyone should be paying attention to.”
