ESPNU To Air Big South Baseball, Softball

ESPNU will again televise two Big South Conference spring sports this season, airing a Radford at Winthrop baseball game on April 23 baseball game live from The Winthrop Ballpark as well as a Radford at Winthrop softball game live from Winthrop’s Terry Field on April 25.

ESPNU is televising a regular-season Big South baseball game for the fifth consecutive year, as the network aired two games in 2006 and one each in 2007, 2008 and 2009.  It also will be the sixth-straight year that Big South baseball will be televised.

The baseball match-up will feature the Big South’s preseason No. 3 (Winthrop) and No. 4 (Radford) squads, while the softball broadcast pits the Conference’s preseason favorite (Radford) against the predicted runner-up (Winthrop).  The Highlanders’ baseball squad will be making their first-ever appearance on ESPNU, while the Eagles will be showcased for the third time, with the two previous times being 2006 and 2007.  Meanwhile, this will be the third time that ESPNU has carried a Radford-Winthrop softball showdown.  The teams appeared on the network last season and in the first-ever televised Big South softball game on May 6, 2007 from Winthrop’s home field.
