NEP Broadcasting Provides Broadcast Facilities and Technical Support to NBC Universal During Vancouver Olympic Winter Games

NEP Broadcasting, the nation’s largest provider of television production facilities, has brought a team of over 60 staff members along with eight mobile television productions trucks to the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games in support of NBC and German Broadcaster ARD/ZDF. For NEP, the Vancouver Games represents the 10th Olympics at which it has provided facilities and support to rights-holding broadcasters.

NEP began working with broadcasters of the Olympic Games in the Summer of 1988 in Seoul, Korea. For the past 22 years, NEP has worked closely with NBC, providing technical, operational, and planning support as well as broadcast facilities and staff for their Olympic coverage at Games around the word. Well-known for facilitating broadcasts of major televised events, including the Super Bowl, Wimbledon, the U.S Open, and the Academy Awards, NEP creates a unique solution for the challenges facing broadcasters at each Olympic Games. Many members of the NEP team have been working on broadcasts of the Olympics for nearly a quarter-century.

“For more than 20 years the entire team at NEP has been central to so much of our Olympic broadcast planning and critical to the execution of those plans,” says Dave Mazza, Senior Vice President of NBC Olympics. “The expertise that NEP has built up over the years is incredibly helpful to us and we value that relationship greatly.”

Adds Errol Foremaster, VP of special projects, “As the Olympic Games move from country to country, posing new issues for broadcasting, our team at NEP is thrilled to create new solutions to support NBC’s coverage. Over our history with NBC’s broadcast of the Olympic Games, we have assisted in the advancement from analog to digital to high definition. We could not be more proud of this relationship, and the support we provide our clients for what is the most important international television event.”

The NEP team begins their work two years in advance of the Games, assisting NBC with their technical coverage plan.  Over the years, they have been instrumental in the design and implementation of software solutions, planning for and securing equipment and facilities, as well as broadcast facilities design.
