Dimension 3 Festival Awards Set for June 2 Outside of Paris

The modern wave of 3D is only a few years old but it was inevitable that the technology would get its own awards ceremony sooner rather than later. The Dimension 3 Festival Awards, which will be presented on June 2, will recognise a wide range of programming, including live sport.

The presentation will take place during the Dimension 3 Forum being held at the Pullman Dock on the La Plaine studios complex in Seine Saint Denis, to the north of Paris. The expo runs from June 1 to June 3 and will showcase production techniques and products for 3D TV and cinema, industrial and medical design, video games and leisure parks, education and new media

Submissions are being invited for the six main award categories: live events, including sport, entertainment and music; shorts, such as short films, commercials and music videos; features; interactive productions, including real-time 3D, “serious games” and virtual reality; video games for entertainment (online gaming, CD-ROMs and theme park rides); and independent production, taking in self-produced features, student films and school projects.

Winners will receive a “Golden Dimmy” and there will also be three special prizes for special effects, images and artistic direction. “The arrival of 3D technologies and of stereoscopic filming will encourage the development of content for films, entertainment, industrial applications, training and advertising,” says Nathalie Klimberg, manager of the Dimension 3 Festival. “In such a context we seized the opportunity to present the diversity of Stereo-3D productions and to promote new talent.”

Entries are being taken until May 5. More details from www.dimension3-expo.com/festival/php.
