NAB Preview: Utah Scientific’s UTAH-400 Router Gets Boost From New I/O Boards

Slated for introduction at the NAB Show, a family of I/O boards for the UTAH-400 router will allow users to choose MADI audio and IP video input and output options in addition to the existing analog and digital video (up to 3G) and analog and digital audio options.

Also new are internal squeeze and graphics capabilities for Utah Scientific’s MC-4000 high-end master-control switcher. The company will preview a new control-panel option for the complete family of master-control processors and demonstrate the hugely successful Dot.Box multichannel packages introduced late last year. The MC-4000 Digital Master Control Processor is an integrated system for fast-paced on-air operations in live, automated, or automation-assisted operating environments.

Additionally, the company will showcase the offspring of its recent partnership with Barco: The MV-Bridge. This hardware/software solution integrates the control systems of the Barco SMV-116 multiviewer with Utah Scientific routing switchers to ensure seamless functionality for users. The 16-channel SMV-116 is a compact high-resolution multiviewer that includes a comprehensive set of standard features, including as many as 16 auto-sensing composite, SD, and HD (3G) inputs, as well as DVI-I video inputs (up to 1080p) for displaying schedules or important computer-status information. Utah Scientific’s booth at NAB will feature the SMV-116 multiviewer line as an integrated solution with a Utah 400 series HD router using the Utah MV-Bridge, which enables up to eight SMV-116 units to be interfaced with the Utah SC-4 control system.

For Utah Scientific’s control systems, NAB will mark the launch of a major release of U-Con configuration software and R-Man management software. Both will be on display with many new features, including a sophisticated SNMP-compatible alarm-monitoring and -management facility.
