NAB Preview: Cobalt’s New Fusion3G Cards Are 3D-Compliant

At NAB 2010, Cobalt Digital will be introducing the new Fusion3G/HD 9900 Series of 3D-Compliant 3Gig cards for openGear.

The Cobalt Fusion3G 9901-UDX provides an excellent level of universal support  — with 3G/HD/SD-SDI, fiber, analog video, as well as embedded, AES and analog audio proc and embed/de-embed — all on the same device. This level of integration correspondingly reduces rack module count and simplifies the signal chain. Cobalt Fusion3G series cards can be ordered with base model and option packages tailoring the card to the video/audio processing and signal types you require.

The 9901-UDX (Up-Down-Cross-Conversion) provides conversion from 3G/HD/SD to 3G/HD/SD formats. It also includes flexible frame sync that can apply 3G/HD/SD input reference to any supported input or output format.

The 9901-DNC (Down-Conversion) provides 3G/HD down-conversion to SD and passes 3G/HD. It also includes flexible frame sync that can apply 3G/HD/SD input reference to any supported input or output format.

The 9901-UPC (Up-Conversion) provides up-conversion of SD to 3G/HD and passes SD. It also includes flexible frame sync that can apply 3G/HD/SD input reference to any supported input or output format.

The 9901-XC (Cross-Conversion) provides format changes within 3G/HD formats (1080i 5994 to 720p 2997). It also includes flexible frame sync that can apply 3G/HD/SD input reference to any supported input or output format.

The 9921-FS (Frame Sync) is a frame sync only base model. All features as above, less conversion.

Other cards to follow will include 3Gig Single to Dual/Dual to Single Link and DUAL Stereoscopic card for 3D purposes.  I/O Options will include Fiber, AES and Analog Video. Video Options will include Test Signal Generator, Wings Insertion, Keying and Color Correction. Audio Options will include Upmixing (featuring Linear Acoustic AUTOMAX technology) and Loudness Processing (featuring Linear Acoustic AEROMAX technology) , Loudness Metering (Compliance with ATSC A/85 and ITU BS.1770), Dolby Decoding and Dolby Encoding (Dolby E and AC3).
