Smaller Is Better for Beck Associates

For Beck Associates, it turns out smaller is better. The company is rolling out a 30-ft. trailer design developed in conjunction with Tulsa-based Kodiak Mobile specifically to fill the needs of events that require something smaller than a 53-ft. mobile-production unit.

“The one for Kodiak is actually the biggest that we’re going to offer, at 32 feet,” says Jay Kirtley, strategic alliance director for Beck Associates. “But, unlike some of the smaller trucks that are on the market that are landscape trailers or car haulers that have been stuffed full of equipment, we took a different approach and designed a trailer from the ground up.”

With a full-aluminum structure and complete belly bays, the Beck Associates mobile units are miniature versions of the classic 53-ft. production truck, not a production system stuffed into a small trailer.

“This is not retrofitting or force-fitting,” adds Fred Wright, director of sales for Beck. “This is built from the ground up. It’s the Cadillac of trailers.”

This Cadillac, however, is geared toward the second-tier markets, where companies are looking to compress a production into a smaller unit.

“It’s not going to replace the A-game, but, for Olympic-style sports and small-college sports, there is a real need,” Wright says. “The way we’re building the trucks for the market, not only are we designing a traditional live production, but it’s live to tape, so the client can go to the customer and say, not only can we give you the truck but we can post it for you and distribute it for you.”

Beck Associates has multiple projects in its pipeline and will be making more announcements about these smaller-footprint trailers following the NAB show.
