Big South Network Adds School-Specific Channels to Video Portal

The Big South Network has rolled out an enhancement designed featuring school-specific channels for streaming and on demand Big South Conference video.  The main video portal on the Big South Network’s website now includes 10 additional channels designed specifically for the member institutions of the Big South and complete with programming tailored to each school.

“This addition to the Big South Network gives us another way to offer our fans and followers what they want,” says Mark Bryant, Big South conference coordinator of new media.  “It’s all part of our ongoing updates to  In this case, fans can access their desired video more easily, the schools get a branded platform for their games, and the Conference gets to offer a more user-friendly experience.”

The Big South Network at now features a drop-down “Select A Team” menu that lists the Conference’s 10 member institutions.  Once the viewer has chosen a favorite from the list, the portal will change to a new look for that selected school’s athletics. For example, “High Point Panthers TV” is displayed a purple screen, “Radford Highlanders TV” on a red screen, and so on. At that point, the fan of a given school’s teams will have relevant content available through the portal’s menu:  Live Events, Games On Demand, Championship Events, and more.  For instance, if a visitor selects Coastal Carolina and accessed “Coastal Carolina TV,” then all the upcoming events and archived game clips would feature the Chanticleers – including all home or road events streamed within the Big South.

The channels feature comes on the heels of a number of changes at this year, including an entire redesign, improved navigation, and improved picture and video quality.

“Some of our favorite additions with the redesign were the social media aspects figured into the site,” says Bryant.  “The Twitter feed on the home page is perhaps the most obvious, but we have a lot of expectations regarding the ability for visitors to comment on articles via the Facebook interface at the bottom of each story, which is a feature we believe has been underemphasized thus far.”
