Things You Can or Can’t Fix in Post: Video Acquisition

Mark Schubin offers up two new morsels of interest this week, including a presentation he recently gave in San Francisco at the Public Television Quality Workshop. The forum is designed to help video professionals understand the issues that can often impact the overall look and feel of a project and Schubin’s presentation, found here, takes a look at issues like rolling shutter and more problems that can occur during the acquisition phase and ripple through the post production process.

In addition, a funny thing happened at the Digital Cinema Forum this year. There was a 3ality tutorial on the basics of shooting 3D. When they demonstrated bad stuff, it looked bad. When they demonstrated good stuff, it looked good. But one time when they demonstrated something that was supposed to look less than good Schubin thought it looked superb. This post concerns that effect on him (and whether others might feel the same).
