NBA Digital Reports Huge Gains in NBA Finals Video Streams, Page Views

TV ratings weren’t the only number skyrocketing for the 2010 NBA Finals, as NBA Digital saw drastic increases in traffic and video streams on NBA.com. During the Finals, NBA.com served a record 72.7 million video streams and 329 million page views, an increase of 112% and 48% respectively vs. last year’s records. The NBA.com WAP Site saw a 145% YOY increase in page views and a 136% increase in unique visitors.

“The dramatic Game 7 finish to this year’s NBA Finals is the fitting end to a record year for NBA Digital,” says Bryan Perez, SVP and GM of NBA Digital.  “From TV distribution, to online video and mobile, our content is available to more fans in more ways than ever before, who are consuming it at ever increasing rates, demonstrating the power of our  integration and multiple-platform commitment.”

NBA Digital’s totals correspond to big gains in TV ratings for the 2010 Finals. The 7-game Los Angeles Lakers-Boston Celtics series was the most-watched NBA Finals since 2001, averaging 18.1 million viewers per game. The Lakers championship-clinching 83-79 victory in Game 7 averaged 28.2 million total viewers on ABC, becoming the most-watched Finals game ever on the network, which has had rights to the NBA postseason since 2003.
