Spectra T-Finity Tape Library Named Storage Magazine’s Green Product of the Year

Spectra Logic’s T-Finity tape library won the “Green Product of the Year” award at the 2010 Storage Awards  (Storries VII), held in London. With a typical power usage of 0.873 kilowatts per hour with heat dissipation at 1.19 BTU/h/TB, the Spectra T-Finity significantly saves versus most competitors, which use two to six times more energy per unit of data stored.

Readers of Storage magazine UK nominate and select the winners for outstanding products, services, and people by popular vote. More than 25,000 votes were cast in the 2010 awards program.

“The high performance computing (HPC), federal, media and entertainment and general IT sectors are all experiencing fast-paced data growth,” says Molly Rector, VP of marketing and product management, Spectra Logic. “Large enterprise customers want storage solutions that ensure data integrity and availability while maximizing the storage available with limited IT budget. The Spectra T-Finity enables users to easily manage vast data sets while performing automated ongoing data integrity validation and the ability to efficiently power and cool their enterprise tape storage.”

In addition to its power efficiency, Spectra’s T-Finity tape library offers elite scalability, at 180PB native capacity with LTO-5 drives and media, and provides 24-218 percent more storage density than its competitors.  Earlier this year, Spectra T-Finity also earned the Storage Visions “Product of the Year” award in January 2010 and “Product of the Year” in the DICE Data Intensive Impact Awards in April 2010.
