University of Texas Adds Additional Daktronics Video Display

In April, Daktronics completed the installation of an LED marquee near the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, which currently promotes University of Texas athletic events and other happenings at the venue. The new video marquee is located adjacent to Interstate 35 at the Frank Erwin Center, home to the University of Texas men’s and women’s basketball programs. It measures approximately 23 feet high by 24 feet wide. The marquee keeps students, athletes and University of Texas supporters informed of upcoming events and on-campus activities.

Daktronics has also provided an integrated scoring and video system inside the Frank Erwin Center featuring digital LED centerhung and ribbon displays. The University of Texas also has Daktronics video and scoring technology at their football, aquatics, baseball, tennis, and track and field venues.

“The University of Texas is a valued long-term customer of Daktronics,” says Dan Fjeldheim, Daktronics Sales. “We’re happy to work with them again. This marquee will provide more opportunities of sponsor recognition for the university, as well as keep everyone on campus up to date with news and events.”

The display utilizes the latest full-color display technology, with lines of LED pixels on 15 mm spacing. Features of the new technology include improved resolution and contrast, module and cabinet designs that are resistant to weather, and an advanced ventilation system that increases the life of the display electronics. Operated with Daktronics’ digital display control system, content can be changed frequently minor cost, providing the University and its corporate partners more flexibility to reach the thousands that drive by each day.

The display’s content is managed by Daktronics Visiconn software, a control system that allows users to run their displays from any Internet-ready computer. The software can integrate multiple display technologies (LED, LCD, and others). Visiconn can also quickly create and display messages and graphics on the LED displays, allowing advertisers to better target their content to the audience at a particular location or certain time of day.
