Doug Means to Head Up Harris’ New “WIN” Broadcast Unit

Harris Corp. has named Doug Means vice president and general manager of the new Workflow, Infrastructure, and Networking (WIN) unit of its Broadcast Communications business.  Means will report to Harris Morris, president of Harris Broadcast Communications, and will be based in the organization’s Toronto office.

“The formation of our new WIN business unit is part of our company’s strategic response to the need for closer collaboration among the creative, technological and business portions of today’s media companies,” says Morris. “Doug’s broad experience in worldwide sales, product management, manufacturing operations, quality improvement and global market expansion will enable us to break down silos, increase collaboration and deliver the high-quality technology and business solutions that our customers need to monetize consumers in today’s multiplatform world.”

In this role, Means will lead the newly formed WIN business unit, which encompasses the Harris Broadcast infrastructure, networking, server, automation, and asset management product portfolios.  WIN was formed as part of an overall strategy to create scale, reduce organizational complexity, and deliver more interoperable solutions to Harris Broadcast customers.

Means is an experienced executive who spent 14 years at Motorola in various roles including VP of sales, GM for satellite broadcast systems, and GM of the IP Video Systems business unit.  His career also includes substantive roles at Zenith Data Systems and Sears Business Centers.  Most recently, he served as COO for Imagine Communications.

Means holds a marketing degree from Southwest Missouri State University and a master’s in business administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
