Calrec Launches Online Forum for Audio Community

Calrec Audio has launched a community website, community.calrec.com, a forum for sharing education and information with customers and anyone else in the audio world. Included on the site are video- and image-sharing blogs from the Calrec team and other industry experts, Twitter feeds, links to social media, and RSS feeds. Visitors are encouraged to provide content, which Calrec can then publish and distribute.

The community blogs and posts will focus on subjects that are pertinent to the audio community, such as 5.1, loudness, and networking, and on relevant technologies such as FPGAs (field programmable gate arrays) and display technologies. For example, one current newsblog, “Signal Flow…in 60 Seconds,” is educational, describing with illustrations the route a signal takes through an audio console. More topics will include opinion pieces on relevant technology, the state of the industry, trade shows, and achievements (or disappointments) in broadcasting.

“Our new site is not intended for promotion but to serve as a trusted community forum for relevant and even entertaining information about audio technology,” says Kevin Emmott, Calrec Audio marketing manager. “The site only opened for business a few weeks ago and already, we have gotten great responses from visitors about the useful and thought-provoking content to be found there.”

Currently, Calrec is particularly seeking contributions to the site from audio mixers with training advice, technical suggestions, on-the-job stories to tell, challenges to share, or questions. These can be written or recorded in a phone interview. More information about contributing is available on the website.
