IBC 2010: Miranda Dives Head-first into 3D TV

Miranda Technologies will be highlighting multiple 3DTV products at IBC 2010 in Amsterdam, along with its award-winning loudness control systems.

The Stereoscopic 3D product range includes signal processors, multi-viewers, and channel branding systems. The Densite 3DX-3901 Stereoscopic 3D signal processor provides high quality conversion of multiple 3D formats, including Dual 1.5Gbps, Dual 3Gbps, Single 3Gbps, and Single 1.5Gbps, with side-by-side encoding and Sensio side-by-side encoding. Monitoring functions include Anaglyph, Difference-Disparity, and Left or Right eye display.

All Kaleido multi-viewers, including the Kaleido-X (96×8), Kaleido-X16 (16×2) and the low cost Kaleido-Modular (8×2), can provide monitoring of Stereoscopic 3D signals, with support for Dual 1.5Gbps and Single 3Gbps signals. By using high performance Stereoscopic 3D monitoring during production, an operator can fully assess the video quality, and compare perspectives, before switching between two Stereoscopic 3D cameras.

The Imagestore 750 Stereoscopic 3D channel branding processor offers a variable ‘Z-plane’ for graphics depth control to optimize viewing, and this function can be controlled by automation or manually. The 3DTV branding graphics integrate fully with Miranda’s Vertigo Suite graphics automation and asset management system.

Miranda’s Automatic Loudness Control solutions prevent excessive audio jumps between programs and commercials, and between channels. The solutions offer exceptional functional integration, along with a choice of leading audio processing technologies to provide the best match for broadcasters and service providers’ mix of channels.

Automatic Loudness Control is available with Linear Acoustic AEROMAXTM processing, Junger Audio Level Magic processing, and with Miranda’s low-cost, high-performance wide-band audio processing. The processing can work in a ‘set-and-forget’ mode or with ‘segment aware’ operation, with playout automation driving a bypass mode or different profiles.
