Polar Mobile Powers CFL Mobile App, Partners with Getjar

The first-ever Canadian Football League mobile app, dubbed TELUS CFL Mobile, launched for all BlackBerry users last week. The app is built and powered by Polar Mobile.

“We understand that CFL fans everywhere expect a highly engaging experience, regardless of what smartphone they use,” says Kunal Gupta, Polar Mobile’s CEO. “We are excited that the CFL chose the Polar Platform to offer this experience to its fans.”

Driven by TELUS, the app is available to fans using any Canadian wireless provider and features a core content set of scores, schedules, stats, and news headlines. Subscribers to TELUS also have access to advanced features, including live streaming of all CFL games including the playoffs and 98th Grey Cup; on-demand video including extended game recaps, game previews, and exclusive interviews; enhanced live stats updates during CFL games.

The app will be available on other leading mobile devices later this month and a French language version will be released soon.

“The CFL strives to put our fans at the centre of everything we do, and this app provides fans with a great new way to be at the centre of CFL action and news even when they can’t be at the stadium, in front of a television or a computer screen,” says CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon.

Polar Mobile Apps Now Available on Getjar

In addition, Polar Mobile has announced a new partnership with Getjar, the world’s second-largest app store (after Apple’s App Store) and the largest independent store globally, that will bring all Polar apps to the Getjar catalogue. Over the coming weeks, Polar will list its apps on Getjar.

Getjar sees more than 3 million App downloads a day and have passed the 1 billion
download mark. Their service offers a free cross-platform web and mobile web storefront supporting all of the major device OS’s and all of the major verticals.

Customers will receive additional promotional benefit within the store at no cost and exclusively through the Polar Mobile partnership.
