IBC 2010: NewTek Intros TriCaster Set Editor, Cuts Price of TriCaster STUDIO

At IBC 2010, NewTek announced its new TriCaster Virtual Set Editor (VSE) as well as a significant reduction in the price of TriCaster STUDIO.

Each TriCaster comes with network-style virtual sets developed using proprietary NewTek LiveSet technology. With TriCaster VSE, users of TriCaster TCXD850 and TriCaster TCXD300 can customize their HD live virtual sets with logos, color schemes, furniture options, talent placement, and more.

TriCaster VSE is accessed from the HD TriCaster control panel, using functions familiar to TriCaster users: position, scale, rotation, color correction (brightness, hue, contrast, and saturation), media browser for image selection, and the T-bar to set custom start and end points for zooms. Once a TriCaster HD virtual set has been customized, it is automatically saved for use in live production.

VSE is slated for release in the fourth quarter, priced at $995.

The price of TriCaster STUDIO has been cut nearly 50%, to $4,995 (from $9,495), for educational institutions, and by $1,000, to $8,995 (from $9,995), for commercial customers.

TriCaster STUDIO is a portable live-production workhorse that offers the ability to switch six cameras and incorporate real-time keying, titling, audio mixing, live streaming, virtual sets, and more. A single operator or small team can simultaneously produce, live-stream, broadcast, project, and record network-style productions.
