TSL Intros SUV-Size Production Vehicle at IBC 2010

Over the past couple of years, IBC has showcased a new breed of smaller production vehicle, offering IP and satellite uplinking for budget-conscious OB operations. The latest was launched at this year’s show by UK specialist manufacturer and systems integrator TSL, drawing on both sides of its business.

TSL has built many OB trucks for broadcasters over the years, but this new unit is a departure for the company. Built into a Mercedes SUV, the vehicle was coach-built in collaboration with Dawson Communications, which also worked with TSL on the installation of the VSAT uplink.

On-board equipment includes TSL’s AMU1 CHD1+ audio-monitoring system and MDU-14B mains distributor, alongside technology from AJA Video Systems, Autocue, Camera Dynamics/Vinten, Glensound Electronics, Miranda, and Digi-Box.

“Our aim is to showcase the combined expertise of our Products Group with that of our independent Systems Integration side to provide the affordable, highly mobile live-production vehicles so sought after today,” says TSL Chief Operating Officer David Webber.

TSL is targeting the unit at live reporting for both broadcast TV and Internet broadcasting.
