Systems Integrator Megahertz Acquired by KIT Digital

UK-based Megahertz appeared at IBC 2010 under new ownership. The OB-truck and broadcast-studio integrator is now part of KIT digital, the Czech IP video developer.

KIT digital bought all MHz assets from Canadian broadcast-design and integration group AZCAR for $2.7 million in net cash and “certain stock-based management-incentive agreements.” MHz will continue to operate from its headquarters in Cambridgeshire.

Kaleil Isaza Tuzman, chairman/chief executive of KIT digital, describes MHz as a respected integrator of advanced digital video systems. “This acquisition extends our existing advanced digital and IP video-systems-integration capabilities, which support our larger-scale software implementation with broadcasters and network operators,” he says. “It also underlines our mission of bridging the gap between traditional broadcast and new media for our customers.”

MHz Managing Director Frances Jarvis says, “This strategic move will extend our reach and solidify our offering to our global media customers. Together, we are able to guide customers through the ever changing media environment.”

KIT digital is clearly in acquisitive mood right now. The company has also bought U.S. operation Accela, known for its AccelaCast interactive video- and multimedia-delivery and -measurement system.
