DiGiCo Further Expands into Live Broadcast Market with SVG Sponsorship
The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome DiGiCo as its newest corporate sponsor. In 2002, DiGiCo launched its first user-friendly digital live mixing console into the audio market. The technology quickly became an established part of live sound production.
“Having decided to expand DiGiCo into live-to-air broadcast, we started doing some industry research,” says Managing Director James Gordon. “When talking to sports broadcasters and OB providers, the one association that kept being recommended was SVG. There is simply no better alternative to get to meet the who’s who of sports broadcasting.”
DiGiCo’s live digital mixing consoles have been in existence for eight years, but the product line has been going for well over a decade, the live range having been developed from Soundtracs digital studio desk. The portfolio currently comprises the SD Series of products, based on Super FPGA technology and including the SD7 and its theater-specific derivative, the SD7T, SD8, SD8-24, and SD9, as well as the original DSP-based D Series products, which include the D5 Live, D5T/12, CS-D5, D1 Live. The DS-00, meanwhile, provides dynamic automation for postproduction facilities, live on-air broadcasts, and full-surround Dolby monitoring.
The comprehensive nature of these product ranges make DiGiCo consoles suited for all types of permanent installations and live events, ranging from sports to corporate functions to concerts. DiGiCo technology is an integral part of many major productions, from U2 in concert and Billy Elliot on Broadway to Olympic productions and support for major US sporting events, such as the NBA All-Star Game.
All DiGiCo consoles have a common design from engine to surface interface, and all run MADI on BNC or on fiber, making the transition from one product to another quick and easy.
