Axon, Pesa Join Forces to Provide End-to-End Signal Flow

AXON and PESA have teamed up to offer full end-to-end solutions for signal distribution, routing, and multiviewer applications.

Systems that include a routing switcher inherently require terminal products to manage signal flow, format conversion, processing (up/down/cross conversion), signal monitoring and signal integrity. AXON’s full range of signal processing products coupled with PESA’s routing switcher line provide solutions for video and audio signals from 4X4 up to 1024X1024, regardless of the signal type – Composite, Component, ASI, SDI, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, AES, Stereo Audio, etc. With AXON’s Cortex control and management software, users can manage a full range of frames and card sets from a single control point. Operations such as “soft” matrix panels can be custom defined by the user with intuitive building templates.

For Router control, AXON and PESA have worked together to integrate feature sets from PESA’s PERC2000 control system into the Cortex platform allowing seamless management and configuration of router control. The Cortex platform offers easy-to-use configuration menus, diagnostics tracking, path switching, and other user selectable operational features without losing any of the control features found in the standalone PERC2000 control system. Users of the PERC2000 software can setup custom sources, destinations, panels, salvos, and tie-lines while configuring complex multi-level router interconnects for both digital and analog signals.

With one of the largest range of routing switcher frames, PESA systems can be custom configured to your specific requirements. For instance PESA’s Cheetah high definition video frame can be configured as large as 864X864 in a 41RU frame – including power and control.  Frames can be configured for either fiber optics, coax, or a combination of both.

PESA’s Audio Distributed Routing System (DRS) frame allows a wide range of connectivity options and is well suited for large systems ranging from 64X64 up to 2048X2048. The DRS is designed around a unique modular frame design that allows each 1RU frame to be located near the source or destination equipment. Each frame handles up to 128 individual audio signals, either all input, all output, or half of each. Interconnect of each frame is through a single CAT5 cable, allowing frames to be located closer to the input our output distribution point greatly reducing cable runs and simplifying system diagnostics and troubleshooting.

The addition of PESA’s PERC2000 control system provides clear and concise control over every component in the routing and distribution chain – including AXON’s full range of Synapse modules and SynView multiviewers.

With over 300 card options and three frame types, the AXON Synapse modular line offers a wide range of signal processing – including analog audio, digital audio, Dolby, analog video, digital video, conversion, embedding, de-embedding, 3D, synchronization, legalizers, up conversion, down conversion, and cross conversion. AXON also offers loudness control and 3D video processing.

AXON’s Cortex software application makes the implementation of multiple video and audio signal paths easier. Cortex provides tools to configure, monitor and maintain the complete range of Synapse products as well as PESA’s router control software. Multiple users can take total control over multiple and complex routines. It can also optionally control and monitor 3rd party devices using either router or SNMP protocols. These new features allow users to build and configure customized interfaces.

For special feature sets requiring conversion from computer graphics to SDI, HD-SDI, or 3G-SDI, PESA’s Vidblox DVI Extender modules along with AXON’s multiviewer and distribution products create a cost effective way of sharing computer graphics with HD-SDI routing and signal processing gear. The Vidblox extenders can be configured to support up to 1080p60 signals over fiber, coax, or both formats from the same module.
